McLamb Server Backups is a personal backup utility operated by Keith McLamb for his own server. It is not offered as a public service.
The utility uses Google Drive's file-specific permission to create, read, verify, update, and delete its own backup files and folders, and files explicitly made available to it. It also checks available storage. It does not request general access to unrelated files in Google Drive.
Selected server application data and personal files are encrypted by restic before upload. Google Drive stores the encrypted backup files and their storage metadata. Authorized restore operations download and decrypt these files on the owner's equipment.
Google authorization credentials are stored on the owner's server with restricted file permissions. The backup decryption password is stored separately from the cloud repository and must be kept by the owner for recovery. The utility does not make backup contents public.
Backup files are transferred between the owner's equipment and Google Drive to provide backup, verification, and recovery. The utility does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or send it to AI services for model training. Google processes data under its own applicable terms and privacy policy.
The configured backup history keeps daily, weekly, and monthly recovery points. Older snapshots and unreferenced backup data may be deleted according to the owner's retention settings. The owner may delete the backup folder in Google Drive and revoke the app's authorization through Google Account settings. Revoking authorization stops future cloud access; it does not itself delete existing backups.
Questions or deletion requests may be sent to keith@mclamb.org. Any material change in how Google user data is accessed or used will be reflected in this policy and, when required, a new authorization request.
